6. Avoid long and hot shower
We all know that after a long day of work, and especially in winter, the first thing we want to do is to get in the shower as quickly as possible and feel the hot water to get warmer. However, hot and long showers after a day outside can provoke skin cracks.
Our advice is that you take your hot shower (but not too hot!) and moisturize immediately after to prevent these nasty cracks.
7. Sunscreen
Our seventh advice is to apply sunscreen even in winter. Most of the time we think that sunscreen is useful only when spring and sunny days arrive. We put it conscientiously during summer at the beach or for a long walk on the seaside. But it is definitely not in summer that sunscreen is essential. During the winter season, for example during skiing, snowboarding or sledding for the kids, it is absolutely crucial to protect your skin from UV rays with sunscreen.
Indeed, sun reverberation is the same with snow as it is for sea during summer, so it is very important to protect the skin with at least a SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of 15 minimum.
8. Keep Moisturizers with us
Our eighth advice is that you try to keep as much as possible some moisturising products with you. Especially during this time of global pandemic, we can’t go out of the house without some hand sanitizer in the purse. Plus, washing hands very often with soap can dry and fragilize your hands at some point.
This is why we recommend you to keep your moisturizing products with you when you go out, for example to always keep a hand cream in your purse to hydrate your hands as much as possible even when you are not at home!
9. Keep the heat low in your home
During these cold winter days our best relaxing moment is to wear our best pajamas in front of a good movie and a great fire in the chimney or to turn the heater higher. But this is definitely not the best thing you can do because being so close to so many heat sources causes the skin to get drier quicker.
This is why we recommend you to keep your home’s temperature at a weaker level (but still hot enough to feel comfortable), and warm you up with blankets or slippers.
10. Humidify
A low level of humidity can provoke a skin dryness. We recommend you to buy a humidifier for your home and put it wherever you want. This way the air inside your house will be wetter and will allow you to keep a perfect skin at the same time.
Moreover, this tip can even prevent you from getting sick!
