Prepare your skin for Christmas and New Year's Eve festivities!
The end of the year festivities are here and are accompanied by outings, family reunions, parties with friends. This year, some of them will be compromised or will be done differently. But that doesn't prevent you from pampering and taking care of your skin. So, if your skin is not quite ready to sparkle to the rhythm of your glitter there are things you can do to prepare your face.
That's why in the spirit of the holiday season we've put together a little skin care guide, just for you, in this article that will not only help you have a perfect, glowing skin for the holidays but also help you survive them. Here are our 5 skin care tips to prepare for the end of the year festivities.
#N°1 Refresh your skin
Our skin may be strong but even the largest organ in our body faces challenges that can make it vulnerable. Whether it's the constant changes in weather, smoke and pollution or the hectic nature of our daily lives like overly drenched evenings, whether it's from outside or inside factors, our skin's natural defenses are constantly being tested.
Why not breathe new life into your skin with microdermabrasion which helps revitalize skin's appearance by exfoliating and removing dead skin cells, revealing much healthier-looking skin. Light peels promote the renewal of skin cells, reduce signs of aging and treat scars and annoying imperfections. In addition, the application of makeup will be a breeze for your renewed and refreshed skin.
#N°2 Hydration
It seems obvious to include in our list but you'll be surprised at the number of people who don't regularly moisturize their skin. Whatever your skin type, daily moisturization is important to retain moisture, smooth dry skin and improve its texture. Moisturizing during the winter season is even more crucial, especially when long, alcoholic nights become more frequent and enthusiastic.
If you have dry skin opt for a thicker ointment that will help restore and retain moisture, especially since in winter skin tends to tighten even more. For normal skin creams that are a little thinner will be easier to apply and will help moisturize without drowning your skin and keep it supple. If your skin is oily choose a lighter lotion that will not weigh the skin down and won't clog your pores.
#3 Reduce dark circles and puffy eyes
The skin around the eyes is incredibly delicate and requires special attention. Puffiness, dark circles and fine lines are often the first signs of aging, visibly showing the wear and tear we inflict on our skin.
To help brighten tired eyes and improve your complexion you'll need a combination of a healthy lifestyle and specially formulated skin care products. Ideally, you should aim to get 8 hours of sleep a night to help your body repair itself. To avoid fluid build-up around your face which can lead to puffiness, sleep on your back with your head elevated above your body.
When choosing an eye cream it is also important to choose a quality product that contains natural and nourishing ingredients. One of our favorite products is our Seductive Sensation Revitalizing Eye Cream, ideal even for sensitive skin. Its firming formula is designed to strengthen the skin around the eyes, encouraging the production of collagen and elastin while reducing fine lines, crow's feet, promoting eye decongestion for healthier-looking skin and eyes.
#N°4 Staying hydrated
Late nights and long hours spent dancing at night can wreak havoc on even the most experienced party girl. It is essential to hydrate from the inside and out to maintain the status quo of our body and unfortunately a glass or two of Prosecco will not be enough.
Although water is not necessarily the only key to well-hydrated skin, an adequate supply of water has a positive impact on your overall health by facilitating digestion and circulation. As an organ composed mostly of cells that need water to function properly, drinking water can help your skin better resist stressors and the aging process. For after-party hydration if you find that water doesn't taste good let it infuse with fruit or why not try hot or cold water with a twist of lemon - both refreshing and moisturizing!
#5 Don’t sleep with your makeup on
Finally, during the Christmas season it is easy to fall asleep without removing makeup but it is a cardinal sin for the skin, make no mistake about it. It clogs your pores and can increase the risk of developing acne and blackheads. Although it may seem tedious at the time washing your skin before going to bed will save it in the long run.
